I am very much appreciating the prayer poems of an Old Testament scholar by the name of Walter Brueggeman these days. I'd like to post an entire poem he has penned. They are very candid, raw, transparent and Psalm-like. They are modern examples of Davidic simplicity, vulnerability, and grit. Take some time today to join in with the spirit of his prayer, as he sets it forth in poetical form:

Every time we meet,
we pray that you would "cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Thy Holy Spirit."
